FALL 2017 TOP FASHION TRENDS FOR CURVY GIRLS

In today’s post, we will be talking about the top 7 fall wearable trends for curvy girls. Like I said on Instagram it may still be 90 degrees where you are but before you know it it will be cold and options will be severely limited. As a curvy girl, you already know current style options are limited from the start. Remember the early bird gets the worm.

Fall 2017 wearable plus size trendsOne of the Top trends isn’t a garment but a color and that is RED

Red was also a big color trend in the Spring, and it isn’t a long stretch to say it has completely taken over for fall. Designers like Givenchy featured head to toe Red however if that’s not to your liking choosing red accents is another great way to go.

The second trend is all about that WAIST

Designers cinched coats, dresses, skirts, and pants with various types of belts, from corsets to obi belts, to thin-skinned belts you could say it’s a nod to the feminine form. This is an easy trend to adopt because all you have to do is buy the belt if you don’t already have one (see how I styled mine HERE)

The third trend is a nod to the 70’s

They were a couple of key pieces in this category but for the sake of simplification, I lumped it into one. Think 70’s neutrals (rich chocolate browns to taupes and cognac) furs, florals and 70’s plaid. For inspiration, id says go watch reruns of that 70’s show. Rather than going full costume like the characters from that 70’s show choose one 70’s inspired piece, for example a plaid skirt or a 70’s floral print blouse.

The fourth trend is the androgynous BLAZER

Big boxy oversized blazers think shoulder pads, think dads blazer, made even better in menswear-inspired prints like check/plaid. This definitely a trend that can be found in vintage and thrift stores. These blazers are perfectly paired with jeans and a slogan tee or even leggings and boots. Perfect for dressing up a casual weekend look.

The fifth trend  is Vintage FLORALS

Think your mothers or grandmas floral curtain, couch etc in dresses, tops,  and skirts in this traditionally muted floral pattern. Just like with the 70’s to keep things from looking too custom-y things up with maybe a top in this floral print or if you choose a dress pair it with tough accents like a biker jacket or you can even go feminine  a trench these pieces will keep the look more modern.

The sixth trend is the flouncy Midi SKIRT

Flouncy skirts were seen paired with chunky knits and fitted tops think feminine very ballet.  This is probably the trend that fits in the most with my style simply because it works so well with my body type. If being ultra femme isn’t your thing pair your flouncy midi with a chunky knit and oxfords or with a biker jacket and over the knee boots. The oxfords will add an androgynous element to the look and the right pair of OTK boots and biker will add a sexy edge to a somewhat demure but pretty skirt.

The seventh and Final trend is the athletic TOUCH

Both high-end designer and retailers have fully embraced the sporty element from full on designer tracksuits (very oversized nothing to juicy couture like) to striped waistbands you can find sporty touches at every price point. The easiest way to rock this trend is to look for pieces with these built-in athletic details like the vertical stripes going down the leg of a wide leg pant or a pair of jeans. Tops with athletic trims around the neck waist or sleeves as well as skirts with similar details.
