Happy Wednesday Chicsters and HAPPY NEW YEAR!! today's post is all about Influencers + bloggers that have inspired me in one way or another. Honestly, you would be crazy (JK) not to follow these 20 women as we enter the new decade!
I figured it was only right to end/start off writing about the industry that shaped me into the woman I am today! It would not be a stretch to say that becoming a blogger helped me find my voice and my power and this post is an ode to all the women who selflessly pour into this industry and their communities without reward! So many of these women have impacted my life through their content without even knowing it! So CHEERS to you!
Girls featured in the photo with me are Le. Beat The_Ivoriangirl Darkerberrie
When I think of Monroe, I think of the word resilience; if there was ever an OG in the Fashion Blogging game, it's her. I started following her years ago probably before I started my blog, and I've seen her remain consistent over the years. So many people who started blogging when she did don't anymore, so when she, after ten years of blogging on the side, decided to go full time without a huge follower count, she became a personal Shero of mine!
2. Dimma Umeh
Chidimma, I just love this gurl, so humble, gorgeous I see so much of her story in mine! Because she decided to pursue a non-traditional career in Nigeria when there were few examples to show success! Being from a middle-class Nigerian family, I can relate to the personal struggles she must have endured to make it this far. I watch her makeup tutorials, and I don't even like watching makeup tutorials; my favorite are her Vlogs!
Here is another beautiful soul I've been following for years. If you are looking for chic workwear style inspiration, she is the one to follow! I feel like I've grown up with her. Newly married, a Lawyer by trade, her style has always had an elevated quality to it. Looking for engagement photos inspo go get your life on her Instagram. I'm so glad her platform is finally getting the recognition it deserves!
Not sure how Jennifer found her way into my timeline, but you know when you see some people and wish you had even a fingertips worth of their talent and confidence, that's Jennifer. She gives you all the "drama" but in the best way, honey! Think bold color, bold prints, just BOLD when she walks into the room; she walks into the room!!
5. Dadouchic
Blogger Photog, the maven behind the Fashion Steele lens and so many others. I first encountered Rose because of Deb, another woman to follow in 2020. Her talent has always spoken for itself, and I love that she lends it to help other women bring their visions to life! She is definitely on my wishlist of women to collaborate with!
6. Itsmekellieb
Kellie Brown! I started following Kellie a couple of years ago because I loved her style! She had a way of putting cool things together, and I wanted to raid her closet! She also had a different body type from the norm that is promoted in the plus-size space, and I loved that she was unapologetic about it! She is a woman to follow because thanks to her advocacy for plus (as an industry insider) and the creation of the movement #fatatfashionweek, the inclusion of plus sizes in high fashion is no longer a pipe dream!
7. Yummymumlife
I'm obsessed with my namesake Chichi mama of 3 YouTuber/Influencer businesswoman at large. I love watching her content because she is domestic goddess goals, but what sets her apart, in my opinion, is how authentic and open she is about sharing her everyday life! Maybe that's why watching her makes me feel so much closer to home (by home, I mean Nigeria). If you want a glimpse into the life of a STAHM in West Africa + so much more, make sure to follow her!
I just started following Aissat this year I found out about her because she entered and won the FOHR challenge that I entered as well! She is a mama of 2 beautiful girls, and she makes it all look so easy! What I love about her is her tenacity and how she chooses to be unapologetically her!
I owe a lot to the businesswoman I am today to this girl! Fashion Blogger / Model / Activist and founder of YouBelongNow. She does it all for the people and the culture! I've never met a person that can build consensus like this woman; she is a true force! Spend a few moments with her, and her passion for people and life becomes apparent!
10. Ms. Nerdy Chica
I started following her on Youtube years ago; she made fashion content that was ahead of her time, especially in our community of color! Her content was goals, and she challenged me to step up mine! Her love for fashion and her passion for creating is evident in everything she does, and you would be crazy not to follow her!
11. Mikaela Pabon
When I think of Michela, I think of color! Her style is so bright, her family sooo kayute #blackfamilylove at its finnest! It's so refreshing to see! If you ever struggle with mixing prints and colors or finding style inspiration that's unique, she is one to follow! Also, if you want an example of what a stylish mom of 3 in NYC looks like, shes got you!
12. Rhonda Rawls
Such a darling, a southern belle truly! It amazes me sometimes how the internet has the ability to connect people who in a million years may never have met! Thanks to Youtube, we did connect, and I can definitely say she is a woman to watch!
13. Danielle Gray
When I think of Danielle, the word that comes to mind is kind, now I don't know her personally, but she is definitely a veteran in the game circa 2008, I believe. Before Instagram and hashtags like Melanin when you needed brown skin friendly make up advice, the Style and Beauty Doctor was the plug ( still is FYI)!
I didn't know of Brittany personally until her book launched, but she was an industry insider and a force in the influencer marketing space! If you are an influencer and have not subscribed to "The Miner" please do! In just two issues, I already know she knows what she is talking about! Her "Influencer business plan" course is on my list of courses to take, if you are looking to grow your business as an influencer or get into this business then indeed you would be crazy not to follow her!
15. Toronto Shay
What do I say about Shay! The first thing that comes to mind, a woman of impact! Personally she has impacted my business without even knowing it by being open and unapologetically her self! She is a big advocate for influencers of color, knowing their worth and for transparency in this business. Not only does her background as an industry insider make her a force to be reckoned with, so does her content. When you come across what she puts her name to, you can see her passion and drive, you can also see her pursuit for excellence!
16. Authentically B
I discovered Brandy via her blogger group, something about her just resonated with me. Maybe it as her glorious fro or the fact that she is a fellow educator, her love of color, or the time she takes to answer every comment so sincerely there is just something about B!
17. Hint of glamor
I've been following Alicia for years. Her shoe and bag closet are goals! If you want a great example of what it means to mix high and low together, then mamii she is one to watch/ follow! Love her style, its the ideal combination of dressy and casual basically its just effortless. Think NYC street style, pin-worthy vibes just high-quality fashion content! Did I mention she is also a mama too!
18. Plus In The DMV
I first met the duo a couple of years ago at an Eloquii event in DC, and thanks to that serendipitous meeting, I taped a podcast with them! They are so fun, so easy going, and you can tell they are passionate about what they do! Their podcast covers a variety of topics, from style to confidence to love to even entrepreneurship and more. Make sure to follow them and, of course, stream their podcast!
19. PocketsAndBows
I love this woman's sense of style. She just knows how to put pieces together! Aside from that, Brittany is a hard-working woman who I've seen transform her brand over time. Form shedding over eight dress sizes, to building her Youtube channel to close to a 100K subscribers, to running a boutique while holding a full-time job! Brittany is a great example of how to chase your dreams while balancing it all with style and grace.
20. Chante Bucket
What can I say about this woman! Single mom extraordinaire, businesswoman, burn survivor just a woman manifesting her dreams! She is not your average plus-size fashion blogger. When you meet her, she never puts on airs; she is always kind courteous and open! Follow her for mommy and mini-me fashions. If you like to be noisy, her secret Saturdays series on IG stories are juicy and not one to miss! Thank me later!
Yall Im no hype man lol! Haven't typed this much in a while but I wanted to tell you why each one of these women was worth your follow! I tried not to just regurgitate the same names that you find in roundups like this which sadly include names of people who are no longer in the field a lot of times #shade. Its a privilege for bloggers and influencers to have the right to be a part of your lives everyday one I don't take for granted. Which is why I wanted to share some of the best with you!
This list could easily have included 500 women so if there is someone you felt should have made the cut shout them out in the comments (shoot shout yourself out)!
